as far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risk to
the health of its employees. This includes Occupational Health, Occupational Safety and
Occupational Welfare. It is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the safety, health and
welfare of people at work. (Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993; Mine
Health and Safety Act. Act 29 of 1996; Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Act 75 of 1997).
